Gale Rublee is an actress, educator, storyteller and nature educator. She created a play on the subject of Bipolar Disorder and needed a website with the basic information about her one-woman show. Originally planning on a one-page site with simple contact information, we brainstormed about the best way to present her play and her background to the organizations who would request a performance.
Much of our work together was spent fine-tuning her content and determining what would be valued information to smooth the process for prospective commissions to perform. The female graphic on her web banner was recolored to match her brand colors. Testimonials from a recent performance were added to give the play and Gale’s performance social credibility.
Gale has contracted with Web Medicine Woman for ongoing site hosting and the WMW maintenance, security, backup program.
Truly is a magical and wise Web Medicine Woman!
I’m a creative type and I’m very resistant to doing the “techie” stuff. I wish I didn’t have to but the desire to share my service which makes a positive impact on others overruled my fears when it came time for me to make my presence known on the world wide web. I also didn’t like feeling completely inadequate or unintelligent with all things web-related.
Liz found a way to appeal to my creative side and direct what I needed to know and consider on the technical/practical side as we created my website. She used her creativity to provide space for my own as she guided me through the process of choosing colors, backgrounds, fonts, and pictures that expressed what I wanted to communicate. She helped me understand how the non-verbal appearance and the written content along with how it was displayed could compliment each other. With her entrepreneurial business knowledge and listening to the direction I envisioned for my business, Liz presented me with options for content, how people could contact me and security that I would never have thought to consider. I felt confident with Liz’s ability to explain what I needed to know and her patience when I felt overwhelmed. As one middle-aged woman to another, she nurtured and empowered me without making me feel stupid even when she had to repeat some things I didn’t grasp right away.
While creating my site, Liz also kept in mind how my business might grow. That meant developing it in such a way that when I was ready to add things, we could do it easily and I could also learn how to maintain some of it myself. While I thought I wanted a very simple one page site to begin with, Liz’s expertise expanded my vision and has given me a website that is more appropriate to what I need and want to promote my business. It’s professional and clean, easy to navigate, and still creative, warm and inviting like me! I am very pleased with my website and have gotten many positive comments about it!
But it was the way Liz guided me through the sometimes painful and scary process of putting myself out there that leaves me with the best impression of working with her. She truly is a magical and wise Web Medicine Woman!
